Bus
Traveling
by bus is the cheapest alternative for those who
are on shoestring budget. Buses from Johor Bahru
to Mersing depart from Larkin Bus Terminal while
in Kuala Lumpur, buses depart from the Pudu Raya.
You may also get a bus to Mersing from various
bus terminal in every states of the Peninsular
Malaysia. All buses will stop at the R&R Mersing
which is about 2 minutes walk to the jetty to
Tioman. Be careful of touts.
Once
you reach at the Mersing Jetty Point, you may
take ferry, speed boat or boat to the Tioman Island.
Remember, you have to tell the driver to stop
at the Genting Village. The journey take about
1.5 to 2 hours. It depends on the boat. Genting
Damai Resort is located on the left which about
5 minutes walk from the Genting Jetty point.

Car
-From
Kuala Lumpur and Johor
Take North-South Highway, head south towards Johor
(from KL or North) and if youre traveling
from Singapore or Johor Bahru, head north. Exit
at Ayer Hitam (after Yong Peng). Follow signs
to Mersing or Route 3.
Approximate traveling time : 4 hrs from KL and
Singapore, 3 hrs from JB.

From Terengganu/Kuantan
Take Route 3(coastal road), heading south towards
JB.
Approximate traveling time from Kuantan, 3+hours
