Tekek, located
midway on the island's western coastline and considered the administrative
heart of Tioman, has the longest
stretch of beach on the island. In Tekek
you can also swim during low tide in contrast to many other beaches
in Tioman, or wade out to the reef,
where you will be surrounded by colourful fish, coral and clams.
The main jetty, airport, police station, hospital,
school, post office, local authorities and other government offices
are also located at Tekek. Those
who love adventure can try jungle trekking the 7km from Tekek
to Juara village. Along the way is
the spectacular cascading waterfall, ideal for a picnic spot.
This village is the gateway to Tioman
by air and sea. It is also the closest village to the Berjaya
Tioman Beach, Golf & Spa Resort, the island's only
five-star accommodation.
